Anyone else wash mechanics uniforms?

DH is a heavy duty repairman for the Operating Engineers Union. He rolls around in oil, grease, dirt and fuel all day, every day. His new employer doesnt offer a cleaning service for his clothes, so its been handed to me.

I cant seem to get these things even remotely clean. I realize that there are going to be stains, but they smell like fuel and 90 weight grease fresh out of the dryer - blech! Ive been using my usual detergent and Simple Green but I dont think its strong enough.

Any ideas? Care to share your regiment?

Thanks!!!

My father is a semi truck driver. Dh helps him change the oil in the truck every 2 weeks. To get grease out, I add some Simple Green to the wash. It doesn't work well enough for you? Try adding baking soda to freshen the clothes.
