Does any one know? We have a Kmart, Home Depot, Sears, ?...But have to drive 1.5 hours to get to anything, so I was hoping to get your opinions. Thanks!!!
Here's the problem: buying cheap paint usually costs more in the long run. What you get for a few dollars more per gallon is better coverage. So, for example, when I painted over the dark blue walls in my office, I used one coat of very good primer tinted to my final color (yellow) and one coat of very good paint. There is no bleed-through at all.
Contrast this to the last house I painted where I purchased "economy" paint. After TWO coats of primer and TWO coats of paint, you could still see the light green bleeding through the yellow.
I've had very good results with Behr at Home Depot. It's not the cheapest or the most spendy, but it's very good quality.

cheap paint is no bargain! every cheap paint I've bought I've ended up having to buy good paint to fix. Cheap paint either seems to run, not cover properly or just plain stinks!

Go to the dump and look through the paint, and look for good brands like sherwin williams, or join your local freecycle and see if anyone is getting rid of paint, you can always mix colors to get close to what you are looking for. Good luck!!!

If you have kids, I STRONGLY suggest getting something that you can wipe clean. Flat paints have a tendency to actually wash off if you're trying to get off those hand prints or crayon drawings.
If you don't have an absolute specific color in mind, they sell mismixed colors for only $5 per gallon. I've gotten some great paint this way. In fact, one day I was there looking for some and they had a whole cart full of mismixed paint. The guy said "take the whole cartful for $15. I got 27 gallons of Behr and Ralph Lauren paint that day for $15. I used it when we had our basement finished--I even mixed a few and got super colors.

I'll go against the grain on the Behr... we used it on the whole house over four years time on the recommendation of my MIL. A friend who paints professionally got me to switch to Benjamin Moore and I couldn't believe how much better it was. I've never had to do more than two coats and it spatters way less for me.
I tend towards dark, deep tones and the Behr was taking three coats lat least and covering me with spatters.
I also tried the Kilz Colors Latex from walmart whe i did my moms's kitchen and was pleasantly surprised- coated great and spratters were non exsistent, and it was CHEAP compared to the others I like. It actually covered in just one coat.

we just repainted every room but the kitchen and the bathroom with Kilz paint it was great. We had to do touch ups only in the LR and Hunter's room because they were dark colors (barn red and royal blue) painted over light walls. Our room and Callan's room (light sage green and pale yellow) were perfect in one coat.
