Question WHat do you use to get out food stains?

I hope this is the right place for this post lol.

Im looking for something get out food stains on clothes. Especially mine and Ds's lol.

Id like something that is earth friendly. nothing nasty and toxic.

*maybe* something I could make myself but that's probably pushing it lol

Or something in a stick form??

I try to wash C's clothes in cold water to keep them from shrinking so food stuff isnt coming out because of that maybe.

ok that's it..

can ya tell Im not exactly martha stewart or is it stuart? oh who cares ...lol

Actually, stains come out better in cold water. Hot water tends to set them in (most stains anyways). I prewash it in our washer right away then put some Seventh Generation on it. If that doesn't it work, I give it to dh (who grew up with the son of a dry cleaner) who uses a little piece of plastic (just something with a smooth edge) working with the "grain" of the fabric and some soap and water. Takes some time but works everytime.

I use Spray N Wash (but that's probably nasty and toxic, sigh). Very effective. I also wash in cold if I'm worried that a stain won't come out, to avoid "setting" it. Another option that has worked for me is soaking the garment in Oxy-clean dissolved in very hot water. Oxygen bleach is pretty innocuous (wouldn't want to eat it, but not long-term toxic) according to my chemist DH. HTH!

Zout! This stuff gets out everything! I had a white shirt from last summer w/ strawberry stain on it and it removed it.
