Tell me about your high capacity washer and dryer.
I just realized tonight that we won't be taking ours with and I prefer to research these sorts of things before I buy. What do you have? What did you wish you had bought instead? There are 5 of us and we use a lot of towels and wash a lot of jeans, plus I prewash a lot of prefolds for BUW, so we need high capacity. I pay the utilities, so it needs to be efficient.
TIA!
Jessica

Sometimes life can be so surprising!
i've got a duet, and i really like it. it gets our clothes really clean, and it's not hard on them at all. i notice far less pilling and fading with this machine than my old, and there's less lint in the dryer trap, too. it's very energy efficient, uses little waterand very little detergent. i can do all our laundry in just a couple of loads. i can wash a king sized comforter or a king sized set of sheets and mattress cover or two king sized pillows. i can do all of eli's twin sized bedding at once.
there are a couple of things that don't thrill me--this is wierd, and i don't know why it happens but in the warmer weather months if i don't get the laundry out as soon as it's washed it goes sour very quickly. within a couple of hours. it happens to my MIL's laundry in her front loader too, and she has a different brand. it wads up the legs of our jeans far worse than my toploader ever did. oh, and i hate folding and it's a pita to fold those gigantic loads of laundry. blech.
I bought the Sears front loader. I did all the reviews on all the front loaders and found that the Sears version was just as good as the others but less expensive. Needless to say I hated it. I hated the front loaders in general. Everytime I opened the door, water trinkled out from the door, the clothes didn't smell nice and clean (you know that nice fresh smell), and the clothes didn't even look clean. Dh jeans still had wear marks in the knees and the knees looked dirty. The kids clothes still had dirt and stuff on them as well.
This is what I figured. The clothes are tossed. It tosses one way for a little while, stops, then tosses the other way for a while. There is no agitation at all. Its like putting a soiled shirt in a bowl of water and moving it around a little. Well, if I want a clean shirt I would do more than move it around, ykwim??
Anyways, that is my opinion and my experience with it. I returned it and bought the Sears Super Capacity top loader, forgot the name but I swear it holds just as much clothes as the front loader but the clothes are clean. Huge difference.
Also, my sil just bought the Maytag top loader that is similar to the front loader, again do not know the name, but it does not have an agitator either, the clothes are just tossed around and my mother was there doing laundry and said the same thing that I said, the clothes just do not look clean.
Good luck,
Christine

We originally purchased the Kenmore HE3t and I loved it a lot but then it broke after 3 months and it was going to take Sears over a week to come to fix it and this was right at Christmas just before #4 was born AND it had my diapers locked inside soaking in water. I broke the door and returned the machine to Sears, then ordered the sister machine to it - the Whirlpool Duet. I LOVE this machine and find that it does an awesome job of washing everything around and my husband who has super sensitive skin has found that his skin is even much better since I started using this! I have also found that the washer smells if you leave it closed but I make sure that I always leave the machine door open before I go to bed and we're fine then (my laundry room is right off of my kitchen). I'd buy this baby again in a heartbeat and I'll never go back to a top loader again.

This is the one I'm looking at. I'm so happy to hear this! Thank you!
i have the top of the line kenmoore he3 it has the most features and is made by the same company as the duet and the other one.no problems yet.before that i had the regular kenmoore frontloaders and no problems at all in that year, but it did not hold alot.
Forgot to add that I am a laundry freak. I am extremely picky about how I do my laundry and what I use and how much and how to fold the clothes, etc.
I also must say that the Duet and the Whirlpool front loaders are the top of the line washers and I have sense learned that comparing the Sears version is like comparing apples to oranges, ykwim.
I really wish I would of tried one of those instead, then maybe I wouldn't feel the way I about front loaders.

i was told by 3 different stores they are all made at the same place with the same parts, they just add more features to the kenmores so they are unique to sears.they were al rated by CR one right after each other.ive never had stinky dipes or non clean clothes.
and my inlaws too my older smaller ones off our hands when we moved and 2 years later there still fine no problems,my sil broke down and got the same ones for herself and just fine.
though i don't have the largest capacity, i have a stackable maytag that is the best and most expensive item i've ever bought myself......since i can, if needed, do laundry with one arm if carrying a child, and easily move items from washer to dryer if i've got the baby in the sling. the hardest part for me is folding! the quality of the clothes is really good too. they have lasted longer than i want them. and the dryer automatically stops due to a moisture sensor according to a dial i have of less dry or more dry.
my best friend sold appliances for a couple of years and she has told me that for the major domestic brands that whirlpool and maytag are way ahead in the washer dryer game.
starbelly, i was admiring your picture and my 3 was admiring the sword, in fact, complaining that he needed it......
