eye ball Iron?

My iron isn't very old...haven't had it or a year yet, but it has a musty smell. I've tried changing the water, rinsing it out, but I can't get rid of the smell! Is there anything I can clean it with? I haven't tried anything other than water because I don't want to ruin it...but if you have any ideas, send them my way!!!

I don't think vinegar would hurt the iron (don't know for sure) or maybe a tea tree oil/water solution.

Those are my ideas.

I've used vinigar to clean an iron before w/ no ill effects that I could tell. We used to have a big problem w/ ants crawling into the water area. Yuck!
