Right after Christmas I decided to redecorate my livingroom/diningroom. The walls had been tan, the floor was carpetted with a hunter green carpet. It was dark....
So, I painted it all yellow, got a couple of new chairs, laid down some laminate flooring, got an area rug, made up a work station for our family and school computers and school supplies, etc. Now we have enough seatign for our family, we have school space for Austin and Nate complete with our family computer and their school computer and all their school supplies/books. I love it! It is so light and airy! :-)

Heather,
it looks awesome, mama!!
that laminate flooring looks great - was it hard to put down? and is it easy to take care of?
looks very restful & cozy... wanna come over & do mine?

And Kelli saw what it was like before - it is soooo different, isn't it?
The laminate was the least expensive stuff at Menard's. We live in Base housing, so I didnt' want to put down really good stuff. It all just snapped together and when we leave in a couple of years, we will just unsnap it and take it with us. Never know what the next house will look like.

oooh so it's like a "floating floor" -- cool! I may have to go on over & check it out at our local home depot... hmmmm... sounds like it might be worth using for us too!
The laminate went down fast. It's not the best quality stuff in the world, but for our needs, we needed something other than carpet to cover up this hospital tile floor. It's easy to keep clean, too. I just have a terrycloth mop that I wipe it with once a day or so. MUCH better than dragging out the vacuum!

I was wondering how you do this? I know you are in the military. We are too. Do you repaint the walls back to the old boring off white or do you leave them yellow when you move?
If we ever get on post housing I will know how to get rid of that tile floor. Thanks!
