Agribon is awesome!

I just had to post this quick, but I've got to be quick. . we're processing more beans and tomatoes.

I purchased some ag-50 and it's Nov and I'm still getting beans, big red tomatoes, cucumbers and of course leafy stuff despite hard frosts. It has a 8 degree frost protection, you can leave it on the plants all the time, which means I don't have to worry about the ducks/chickens and geese eating my baby plants and it's soooo feathery light it doesn't require support. Just floats on the plants. I can't wait to see how far into the winter I can continue to get produce. I see no reason, unless we get heavy snow or more likely for us, ice, we couldn't grow cold crops through the winter! I'm excited.

eta: I grabbed this link because it talks about it a little more

Well, we made it through a freeze! We just picked tomatoes and green beans today. The greens, carrots, rutabagas, lettuces, etc are still snug and sound.

We don't have cool storage, which is why I'm so excited for a longer growing season.

Can you just grow some greens on the shelves where you put your starting trays? What about putting in just one single 4X8 raised bed? If you plant the entire surface, it's amazing how much food you get. Especially with succession planting. You could use the agribon over the plants and then arch one cow panel over the top and put greenhouse plastic on it. For the coldest times, I bet just a single bulb like you'd use in a hen house would maybe get you through all but the coldest months. Seriously, you could assemble this in a just a few hours work and think of all the fresh organic greens you could eat!
