What can I put on our lawn to keep stray cats from going to the bathroom on it?
This is driving us nuts. Our next door neighbors have two outside cats, one had 3 kittens and one had 4. They *all* hang out around our house. These cats are never, ever inside. We didn't mind them hanging around or sleeping in the bushes or whatever, but now they're all using our front lawn as their toliet. It's disgusting. Is there anything I can put on the lawn that won't kill it? I know there are things you can put in your house to keep them from going to the bathroom in that spot, but I don't know of anything that's safe for grass.
Thanks.

I want to know, too. There's a tom cat in the neighborhood who comes over occasionally to terrorize our cat, and he keeps "marking his territory" in our yard, lol. How irritating!!

WE had a problem with the neighbors VERY LARGE yellow lab pooping in our front yard. My DH got a water scarecrow. It has amotion sensor on it. When the dogs come into ouryard, it sprays a stream of water in an arc across our lawn. No problems now!

I have heard crushed red pepper works, but it makes
me sad to think the animal will suffer because of the owners irreponsibility. We have a lot of dogs poop in our yard while being walked by owners.

How would the pepper hurt them when they're going on the lawn to use the bathroom? I don't want anything that's going to hurt the animals or kill our lawn.
I've never heard of a water spraying scarecrow. That sounds like a good idea. I feel bad scaring them away, we don't mind them sleeping by our house or playing or anything, just the pooping on our lawn.
Thanks for the ideas.

I saw tons of cat repellant in the pet section at Raleys today. I don't know what it would do to your lawn. Maybe go to a pet store and ask?
I was looking for urine smell remover stuff. I rescued a kitten last night and Scooter is pissed off. literally..
Want a cat to call your own? He is a cute kitten and boxed train, and very kid tolerent! So cute too.. He is our first non-orange cat. We can't blend him in and tell the landlords we only have 2.
He is a sweet tabby named Goose. Evan named him because Anneka was yelling DUCK DUCK for some reason, then Evan patted the kitten on the head and yelled GOOSE! It stuck.

Oh now that is a great idea! That would be perfect for keeping cats away... muhahahaha!!!(((((
Thanks. Will this hurt the cats? I'm guessing from the other post that it might bother them, but I'm not sure how, if it's just supposed to repel them by the smell.

I'd feel bad for the kittens but at the same time... yuck.

Thanks Jen. I'm sorry...we actually do want a cat but I know it's not a good idea right now. LMK if you can't find a home for him though, I could take him until you do if you're going to get in trouble with the landlord. My mom was talking about getting another one, but I'm not sure if she wants a male or another female. I'll ask her tomorrow okay?
I read that cats don't like a orange or a citrus smell . I think they sell something with that smell at our health food store . Maybe you can look into something like that.
