My oldest is into the American Girl books - The Care & Keeping of You, the Manners Book, etc. She also loves shower gels, glittery stuff, lip balm, etc. She will always play with craft kits - like the kind where you make your own lip balms, or candles (with the crystals - not the melt and pour). She likes painting sets (like paint by number) and pretty much anything from Michael's. She would like some kind of funky collection of picture frames for pictures of her friends (so small ones, for the trader-sized school photos). Oh - what about an inexpensive digital camera? That's a pretty good idea at this age

My 91/2 yr

old is getting Breyer Horses, some of those kits that have a lump of clay and you dig for dinosaurs, she wants a carnivorous plant, she loves getting art kits..like bead making, candle making..she just asked for a set of Eyewitness enclyopedias...Rachel is not into Bratz or dolls or boys!! She LOVES nature and anthropology ,similiar things like that.

My husband will be making her a horse tack box lined with cedar for all her horse grooming supples. She is really into real horses(she has one) and pottery, which ranks right up there with her horse.

Sorry if that is not a help...she isn't typical by any means!!

Thanks mama...

My dd isn't into bratz dolls either, and I love that (or boys!) and I love that too. We'll be in Hawaii for Christmas, so gifts have to be small this year!!

There is NO WAY she can be 9 1/2 already!!! Where does the time go????

I just got a gift for the one preteen on my list, two books by the same author: Wise Child and Juniper. I saw them at Chinaberry and wanted them then. Then I saw them at Daedalus Books for 1/4 of their list price!

My daughter (11+) wants a phone (in her room), scrapbooking supplies, an MP3 player, clothes, earrings (I am letting her get her ears pierced this year), a soccer goal, a gold cross necklace, a gift card from Border's, and I can't recall what else in on her list.

máire (who will be 10 in feb) asked for a lap harp, cowboy boots and riding lessons, goldfish and for sarah to start walking (that gift came early lol)

since we only give one gift she is getting the lap harp from us, cowboy boots and riding lessons from my parents, a bike from my exILs and goldfish from her stepgrandparents.

last year we gave máire the 1st atari system (atari 600 and 800) so she could learn computer graphics from the beginning (she already has 2 laptops that she uses for her graphics work), i think we have had more fun with that gift than anything else

Nanci- its a digital dancing machine game that hooks up to the TV(does that even make sense?)

Tylenn is asking for the same thing this year and last year there was one similiar to it at Toys R Us for about $40. It had a floorpad that has numbers on it and the kids dance on the pad according to what they see on the TV screen.

The one at Toys R Us doesn't need a Playstation. But the actual "Dance Dance Revolution" game is a Playstation game and the pad for that connects to the box. I'd check EBAY because it seems like there is quite a few of them on auction right now (both versions).

Sounds like you and your family will have so much fun during the Christmas break! We were talking about going to Kauai for Christmas this year (family all lives there ) but it looks like an Oahu Christmas for us. But hey, if you're ever on Oahu, please let me know. I'd love to meet up with you too!
