Need gift ideas for my boys

Last year was a nightmare with the amout of 'crap' that their father bought them (guilt gifts). Most of the stuff broke or isn't being played with anymore.

Nicholas has asked for 'video games'. And of course Nicholas and Kendall can't share and there is no way to hook one up to the tv the way its set up. So handhelds would be the way to go. I looked into V Tech VSmile game system because those are supposedly more educational. I have those and some games on an amazon wish list for the kids.

I have no idea what to tell them them to get Andrew. He doesn't have any strong opinions one way or another about things yet.

I have lots of books and DVD's listed also. But I want something thats more for Andrew rather than for all of them for share (most of the stuff will be to share but he needs something of his own).

The ex and his parents are WalMart/ToysRUs kinda people. Last year I gave them sizes and a list of needs and the ex got things in the wrong sizes anyway.

I need a varied list so that they can at least find something 'suitable' on it. They don't shop online or do WAHM/WAHD I'm just doing the amazon list so that they can see exactly what the kids want/need.

Any suggestions?

How about Leapsters? Those are great educational handheld game systems. Gameboys are nice, but they don't offer any educational games.

I forgot to mention that the stuff will need to be shipped from Connecticut. I wish they would just get GC's and let me pick it out but they won't.

Nicholas got a sandbox built for him on his 4th birthday.

The problem with passes to the zoo is that its not with in walking distance unless someone really wants to walk 45 miles each way.

Passes the the local aquatic center aren't worth it. It's cheaper to pay as you go.

I'm not trying to shoot down ideas.... just trying to think things through

This was my best investment ever. It's been played with at least once a day since 2 years.
