What do I send a new mother who has everything?

A friend of mine just had a baby and this baby has everything. The mother is returning to work soon. She is still breasfeeding (YAHOOOOO!!!) and doing well with the pump.

Maybe some consumables that will help her stick with the breastfeeding? Like lasinoh, breast pads, breastmilk storage bags, etc. Maybe stick a nice waterbottle in there too to help remind her to drink enough water.

maybe a monthly penpal

This would be a sweet gift or maybe a group effort of her friends.

Each month get a little gift together...reminder of bfing or good job mom, hang in there, wow already 6months old!!! yk, the kind of stuff that you need when you are in a slump...

Doesn't even have to be a gift. Just some nice notecards that get mailed out monthly until the baby is one.

Just a thought.

Does she live nearby? Maybe you could get her a gift certificate to a restuarant for her and her dh and offer to babysit free that night.

Or maybe a certificate to get a pedicure or something if she likes that kind of stuff.

Since she has so much baby stuff I'd lean towards getting her something to pamper herself with.

one of those frames with the baby's hand or foot print on one side and picture on the other?

or.. i loved the crystal hand kit where you make a mold with their hand in the gel and make a cool keepsake

food. Either homemade dinner or a gift certificate to a place that delivers. If you live close by, make her a certificate saying you will drop off dinner for x number of nights starting on x date. I did that for a shower gift and it was the hit of the party. Moms having their second or more child seem to really like this!

I second, third, fourth & fifth the dinner idea. The best gifts I received after ds was born was when the girls in my playgroup brought me dinner for almost a week.

HEAVEN!!

A membership in La Leche League! That would give her a bi-monthly subscription to New Beginnings, which a lot of mothers find helpful in continuing to breastfeed.

La Leche League membership
Subscription to Mothering magazine
Dr Sears Baby book.

Those are what I generally give to moms I know unless they really need cloth diapers or clothing.

I just got a friend of mine a Willow Tree nick nack... it's a statue of a pregnant mama. My brother gets me one of these every time I have a baby and there are quite a few really sweet ones of mommies and daddies and new babies. They are so special!

This is such a wonderful idea. I can not even tell you what a pat on the back, a "good job", would mean to me sometimes. Let me just say that it would mean more than any baby outfit ever could!
