need gift ideas for 5 year old dd

My oldest dd turns 5 in a little over a month and I need some gift ideas. She's your typical girl, loves to play dress up, work on arts and crafts, play house, and all the other "girl" stuff.

So do you have any ideas of what to get her?

Play silks might be fun for her. Also a new set of markers and a ream of paper. Possibly some new hats and other dress-up clothes? My children really love their capes for dress-up - they can be all kinds of imaginative creatures.

HTH, because I never had a "typical girl"

does she have any wood food?

this site is awesome! and all orders are only $3 shipping!!! it has lots of great things on it.

http://www.toymobile.com/

so, wood food, playsilks, babydolls, my dd really likes art kits....make your own (fill in the blank) ideas.

dress up clothes, a bean bag chair, fun stuff (pillows) for her bed

(this is all stuff my dd said she liked!)

Thanks! I'll have to go check out that store. Her and her 2 year old sister love to play with with their wood food. I'm trying to get rid of the plastic food they have. We have quite a few playsilks and they love those too. Anything dress up or imagination stuff is what she really loves.

I am rather mainstream when it comes to toy selection but dd (5.5yo) loves "fashion girls" - so Bratz, etc. She also digs dress up! There is a book called, darn, I cannot find it but it tells you how to make costumes out of things you have all over the house. That might be fun. Dd loves to go through catalogs and I tell her to circle the things taht she wants but only one thing per page. It is a good idea for gift ideas. Sorry I cannot be of more help! Let us know what you decide on!

One of my DDs recently turned 5 and her gifts included dress-up items, a child's sewing machine, her own sewing box and a big box filled with lots of arts & crafts items that she'd been asking for - foam shapes, paints, brushes, clay, special papers, a new art smock, etc.
