Question What can ds and I make for Tim for a Father's Day gift that's USEFUL?

We're obviously saving $ for J's service dog, so buying a gift isn't an option. What can we make for Tim that would be useful as a gift for Father's Day?

And what do your kids plan to give/make for dad? What are your Dad's day plans?

I'm planning on making a no-bake cherry cheesecake, not sure what we'll have for dinner, prob one of his fave's, though. It's a work night for Tim so we'll only have about 2 hours with him before work.

???

Stacy~ Each year the kids paint a t-shirt for my dh with the words "Best Dad~Hand's Down". They each paint the palms of their hands and places them on the t-shirt under the words. Then they use a paint pen to write their names and ages underneath their handprints. My husband loves these t-shirts. he still has the first one we made when Jack was 14 months old. Maybe you have some paint somewhere around the house you can use.. and could use one of your dh's tshirts or maybe buy an inexpensive one at one of the marts or thrift shops?

Father's day is my youngest dd's birthday. We are having a combined Father's day/family birthday party/BBQ

You can have Justin, with your help of course, write out IOU notes, like *IOU one big hug* Your dh can cash them in when he feels like it. You can do it too, be more creative with your's.

how bout having justin make a pen/pencil can holder? The kids did this in preschool as a craft. Decorate a coffee can or smaller size can with macaroni elbows or ditalini with the word "dad" or best dad etc.. then he can paint it and put glitter etc on it to jazz it up?

Does he like music? Maybe make up a cd of his fav songs?

Put together a scrapbook of pics of you guys all together? Or make a screensaver pic so everytime he goes on the pc he see's Justins pic?

I dont know what esle, What does Tim like/do?

We're having a bbq for my dh and the kids and I are getting a him a new wheelbarrel and filling it with some peat moss and putting flowers inside it for him to plant. He loves gardening.

For my dad, my brother and I are getting our pics done at Picture People with a free sitting fee & 8x10 coupon. We'll buy a cheap frame from walmart and wrap that up. My dad doesnt have any recent pics of me and my brother together.

Whatever you do Im sure he'll love it, and especially knowing that you are saving money I think he'll love any handmade gift.

A few years ago, when it was just Lindsey and me (preggo with Josh), I dressed us in matching outfits (pink tops and white khakis) and got the free 8x10 at the picture people (they run coupons all the time on the internet... here's the current one http://www.picturepeople.com/promoti...BCWA&Referral=)

Last year I did the same, the two kids (22 months and 6 months) in the fishing boat with the "no fishing" sign.. and I actually bought the $18 frame that said "Love you Daddy" because the manager knew me and let me swap out the 8x10 for a sheet of 5x7s so that it'd fit in the frame.

Emily is making my dad a fabric bowl for chips:

And a simple map case -- he has a TON of maps from AAA in plastic baggies.

I don't know about dh -- maybe a pic of all three girls and the older two can decorate the frame.
