AHHH ok the cat we took in a week and a half ago is now peeing blood

all over everything-- specifically mine and ds's bed. He also stinks (like pee), so apparently it is hurting him bad enough that he isnt cleaning. What the heck do you think is up He jsut went to the vet 1.5 weeks ago, and 165 dollars later we were told it was behavioral. Do you think he got an infection from the cath? What should I expect to have to pay when we take him back in tomorrow?

Yuck. Blood is indicative of infection and/or crystals. )o: I would hope they will n/c you for the exam and either just prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic over the phone, or recheck his urine at a no or reduced cost. I'd wonder who read his urine the last time and how it got to be so bad when last week it was "nothing".

Oh, and cats we cath or use a cysto on should not be peeing blood after. Sometimes we see a tiny bit of blood during the cath and/or cysto, but not peeing it afterwards. Unless they caused trauma to his bladder...but then you would have seen blood from his first day home and on. Kwim?

Bring him back in asap to be checked. It can be really serious if it's crystals. Our cat had to be put down from it

Herc, the vets we have used would call us in to pick up an antibiotic without having to see the cat again. They usually took it for 7 days.

If I remember correctly the meds were not more than $20 for the 7 days worth.

ETA if it is a boy cat I think their risk of problems resulting from crystals is higher, so they may want to feel around, but if he is passing anything, even bloody urine, he probably isnt blocked. But Im not a professional, just going on what we've dealt with in the past.

it is looking bad No sign of infection, and apparently there are cells coming off his bladder wall like crazy, so they sedated him and shot him up with dye and are doing xrays. Will know more later, but I think they mentioned cancer to DH
