ACK! How do I keep my cat from eating my beautiful plant???????

I rarely catch him doing it, because he knows he's NOT supposed to be on the table- so he only gets up there at night when the house is completely dark and quiet. I did catch him the last 2nights because I was sleeping on the couch and I heard my poor plant being attacked in the kitchen. I normally spray him with water when I find him on the table- so that's what I did these 2 times as well. He must not like that too well because now the last 2 mornings I have also found his "droppings" in the living room. (He is a persian and doesn't like being told what to do LOL)

any ideas on how to keep hime away from my plant?

Sprinkle cayenne on it.

Get him his own plant to eat. There's some kind of grass that you can get at the pet store... name of it is escaping me this morning.

I was going to say the same, sprinkle pepper on it.

There is also a spray I got at Petsmart called Bitter End. It is a liquid combo of cayenne pepper and a few other bitter herbs you can spray on the plant. We've also used it in olectrical cords. My cat would chew anything.

Danielle,

There is one plant that my cats gravitate towards. I alternate between spraying them with the water bottle and shaking a can at them that has pennies in it and makes a horrible sound. (empty soda can w/pennies in it)

I make sure to promt with a verbal "NO" and all the cats have learned to stop doing something with only the verbal NO prompt. (after a while, that is)

I'd move the plant at night when you are not available to discipline them.

I also like the idea of a kitty plant that has cat grasses or catnip growing in it....I've never tried that indoors, however.

Never tried the bitter stuff to spray on the plant either, but it is worth a try!!!

Good luck....cats sometimes thing they own EVERYTHING!!! (at least my four do!! *lol*)
