How to clean cat pee??

For some reason, my very old cat started peeing on the carpet. She's gone now, but now, my other cat is peeing in the same spot!! I am ready to kill her!! I thought I had cleaned the carpet well enough, but obviously not. My husband wants her to be a strictly outdoor cat now, but I thought I'd clean the carpet real well and give her another chance.

So tonight, I used some Resolve pet odor cleaner, scrubbed the crap out of it, rinsed with water, then used the shop vac to suck it up. Then used the resolve again, following the instructions on the bottle about letting it sit.
I went over there and took a sniff and I smell cat piss still!!!!!!!!!!!

WHY???? Someone help me here, this is totally disgusting me. Animals peeing in the house is one thing my husband will NOT tolerate, and if we cant fix this, he is going to get rid of her. HELP!!

I've always used vinegar for urine (pets and kids) and it has always done a really good job of neutralizing the odors. I use about 3 parts vinegar and 1 part water and a scrub brush to scrub it in.

Oh and I pretty much saturate the area and after I scrub it I blot it w/towels.

Natures miracle. You can get it at a pet store. It worked for me when nothing else wood - including vinegar.
Great stuff!

Okay, this vinegar thing better work!!

My friend also recommended theat toddler time stuff from walmart in the pink and white bottle, so if this vinegar doesnt help. thats the next step....

About Elope.... I could do it if people are interested. There wasnt too much interest last time, and bought alot for my kids, but now I realyl cant afford to buy a bunch for myself. How about you post and see if there is interest, and let me know?

Nature's miracle from the pet store is $ but worth every penny.

And you have to clean the pad too not just the carpet. Use a black light too b/c even a female cat can spray onto the walls, higher up than you think.

Just a warning on the toddler time, that stuff smells REALLY strong. It's a baby powder smell which makes me gag and I'm not like some people are w/the smell of fabric softner and other scented cleaners, we use alot of scented products in our home and that stuff kills me

Oh how lovely, now it smells like piss and vinegar..
I am thinking the cat must have been peeing there longer than we knew about it. I think I am going to have my husband remove the pad from under there. We have really old carpet(its green, from the 70's!) and we want to get new carpet in here, but it will be awhile before we can afford it. Its over in a corner, so I think that will help pulling the pad out.

Off to WallyWorld to get the toddler time. I dont mind the strong smell, hopefully its strong enough to keep the cat away from there.

I am so stressed about this, I know its not the cat's fault, she's only doing it because she smells it there... Ugghhh
