Latest Spirit (the horse) update (Sunday)

Well, good news, I think...

It's definitely not a fungus. But they also didn't put cancer on the top of the list either. They think it may be
1.cronic conjuntivitis/keratitis
2. habronema (which is a fly larva that has caused trauma)
3. Squamus? Cell Cancer

If it IS cancer they said they would probably try to treat it as it is only on the front of the eyeball.

They did a cytology and biopsy and I will know more by the end of the week.

We ended up using the house payment to pay for it--but I guess that's the way life goes sometimes...

Thanks for the good thoughts mamas!

I'm glad it's not looking as bad as originally thought.

Hope Spirit is okay. We have 3 horses & became attached to them very quickly. Our 11 yr old mare had an injury to one of her eyes.(before we got her & before the owner before her had her) We aren't sure how much if any sight she has in it. It doesn't seem to slow her down though!!

I know a lady with a horse who had its eye removed due to cancer & the horse is fine.

Well--Good News!!!

The university called the other day and said the cytology came back as eosnophilic keratitis. Which is curable!

Basically his immune system went a little crazy and the white blood cells invaded his eye. The antibiotic steriod cream we have him on should take care of it. I'm supposed to call Purdue on Monday (are they there Monday?) and let him know how Spirit is doing.

I'm SOOOO happy that everything turned out well.

Thank you to all the mama's who kept us in your thoughts.

Now we just need prayers for dh and I, because he is not happy that we ended up spending the house payment on the horse...

I'm so happy its turned in your favor.

I kow my horses are like a member of the family.

DH will get over it. I know mine would be having a fit also.

You just need to place a few more For sale lists up in the next couple weeks. To help out.
