my kitten has fleas

Ok We have a little kitten that is 14 weeks old.. I found 2 large fleas on
her.. She has lots of white so it was easy to see. She is inside only. Well
when we got her she was out and in at the owners house. but I called myself
checking for fleas and found none. Anyway NOW what.. she loves to get on
our beds and I don't want to have friends on me.. scratching my head as the
thought makes me itch.... I went to walmart and bought the flea drops that
say they work to kill fleas, eggs etc.. Any advice??? How long will it take
to kill the adults or will they jump off and find another place to live? Do
I need to do anything to the house?
Thanks for any advice you can share..

AS far as the house, vacuum EVERYTHING! And then re-vacuum again in a few days. Repeat until the fleas are gone. We tried the flea aprays around the house (we had an indoor cat with fleas, too), but they kept coming back until I went crazy with the vacuum cleaner. In the couch cushions, under the bed, behind the tv, everywhere my kitties liked to journey.

We had fleas a few years ago, and I had to vaccuum a couple times a day and wash everything to get rid of them in the house. Also, the flea drops at the store never really worked well for us. Advantage is expensive, but sooo worth it imo.
If your kitten is really tiny, you can use Dawn dish soap--suds it up really thick, cover the kitten with it, wait 3-5 minutes, then comb through its fur with a flea comb. That gets rid of the fleas, but not the eggs. You have to do it again in about 7 days.
Hth!

Be careful. They are considering a recall on all Hartz, Sargeants and other generic named flea drops as there have been quite a few deaths in cats from using them. They are very harsh chemicals and unlike Advantage, can be toxic if ingested in small amounts. Advantage and the pricier ones work and are a lot, lot safer. You spend more, but save a lot more in the end.
