Any bathing suggestions for sensitive skin??

We have a shar-pei and his skin is looking so ragged!! Does anyone have some suggestions on what I could use on him to make him less itchy?? I was even thinking of an oatmeal bath!

Dr.B's works great.I use Eucalyptus or Peppermint to repel the buggies. I don't know if that would be too harsh for your Shar-Pei,but maybe the Aloe Vera Baby Mild would work.Good luck Mama!

How often are you bathing your sharpei? Sharpei's have sensitive skin (my best friend has one) and she uses a soap-free shampoo. She also found out her dog has allergies and has to take allergy meds, and that's helped a LOT!

Put a call into your vet. Most vets (at least around here) won't charge for a quick phone consult and you may be able to find out what you need quickly and at the recommendation of you vet (all the better, IMO!)

HTH and good luck!

Actually, you can buy dog oatmeal shampoo. I also second talking to your vet. Maybe they'll have some great insights. You can also use Halo brand salve for your dog's skin, but obviously you don't want to put it all over it's body. Definitely ask your vet or read about it on the net what other shar pei owners use for shampoo.
