vet/dog knowledgable mamas, question

I have seen a dog that I'd really like to help out , he was rescued from a home where he had been complately neglected (owner moved out and left him). The problem? he is 12 years old, underweight, not neutered and tests positive for Hep C. My question is, could he give Hepatitis to my other dogs?

this is his listing

Hey hon, Hep C must be pretty rare in dogs....I don't think I have seen one case of it. I'd recommend calling your vet, though, and asking him/her. I know my clinic does not mind our clients calling to ask things like this, and they can also advise you on treatment for it. I am assuming it would require a treatment/course of meds. Sounds like he is in a rescue group so maybe he is already being treated? If so, call the vet who is treating him. Call the rescue and ask them who is treating him.

I think it's great though, that you want to help!!!! I wish I could help you more.....

Thanks Denise. I called my vet and she said it is contagious. The weird thing is though his profile doesn't say he has it- I wonder if the lady at the shelter had him confused with another dog? If he definately has it I guess I'll just send them some money towards his care as I think it'd be too risky for my dogs.
