Gentle guidance This board is not a debate board regarding spanking vs. non spanking. While we strongly believe that children need and thrive with guidance, we also believe that hitting is not the answer. If you have come here to discuss spanking and your reasons, please desist.

Anyone know about The Essence of Parenting

This book was just loaned to me by my midwife who I think has recognized a fairly kindred spirit in me. (The other five books she loaned me at the same time were ones I have been wanting to read - and not all parenting stuff either.) Anyways, I am a few chapters into this and found myself wondering if other people here have read it. It seems "gentle parenting" (and considering she and I share titles like Living Joyfully with Children, I am guessing it is), but I can't turn up any old discussions of it. It's by Anne Johnson and Vic Goodman. I am working through the parts on why you must be good to yourself before you can be good to others. That endless challenge!
