Gentle guidance This board is not a debate board regarding spanking vs. non spanking. While we strongly believe that children need and thrive with guidance, we also believe that hitting is not the answer. If you have come here to discuss spanking and your reasons, please desist.

Asia- "Mom, you are sticky"

How could I forget that Asia doesn't touch. When she hugs she wraps her hands inside of her clothes. Her jammies were sort sleeved. LOL Oh the joys of a OCD child.
Oh how cute!! I am .

We do the "hand on arm", too, and it works wonderfully! Sounds like it's not the best choice in your home, though Samantha, lol. How about an object she can hand to you? Maybe a small ball or something that she could just put in your hands on on your lap, etc to let you know she needs you? Just a thought

Ok, I tried the small ball idea. LOL.. You are going to laugh.......

I explained that when she wants to talk when I am already talking that she is to give me this pretty purple ball. I handed her the ball and she walked directly over to the sink and washed it. LOL She carried it around for a while and then I heard screaming. I ran to find out what happened and ... Asia sat there so upset.

Me- "What is wrong Asia"

Asia " River took my ball! " (River is Asia's seizure alert dog)

I tried not to laugh because she really was not impressed. I said "drop it" to the dog and River dropped the ball along with a huge amount of drool.

Poor Asia. She told the dog to "get it" so River picked it up again. Then she marched the dog into the kitchen and had the her "drop it" right into the cutlery section of the dishwasher. LOL

Still no help with the interupting.. but some good belly laughs.

haven't read the previous posts...but we learned when i was a child in montessori school to place our hand on the shoulder/arm of the person who we needed to talk to...that way they knew we were there and would get to us when there was a break in the conversation....

I've been trying to get DS to stop interupting, so I told him he has to say excuse me. Well unfortunately now he says excuse me as loudly as possible and then keeps saying it!!! LOL I'm gonna try the hand on the arm thing or whatever.. I like that he now says excuse me when he wants to interupt, but I'd really like it even more if he was less obnoxious about it! LOL
