Arrow Picts of our version of playstands.

We finished the playstands a few days ago and I'm finally getting around to picts.

Supplies: $37 for the wood
6(1x12x48)
8(1x4x48)
Screws.

Tools:
Jigsaw.
Drill with counter sink bit.
Screwdriver (battery operated)
Palm sander. Belt sander would have been nice.

Finish:
Unfinished at this point.

**I did NOT clean for the picts**
These are in the as the kids left them condition.

Close up of the top shelf.

Notes:
The kids have been climbing and jumping on the big shelf and I'm glad we did the extra support for it. They also love useing the shelf and floor as bunk beds.
The cross bars were a necesity since the first thing the kids did was know the stands over.
The cross bars (originally I planed on awning at a later date) are not sanded and will need to be remade since the kids have been taking them off and having sword play with them. When the next ones are made we will most likely choose to screw them in place.
I will be putting cup hooks on the bottom of the top shelf and I have baskets that I hope will hang from them.

just wanted to share for those who are planing/thinking of making them.

*if* I had to do it over again I would consider doing 18" wide boards but this time around the additional cost put me off.

Wow!

That's great! I may have to do something similar to that for my little one! Thinking more like a *fort* because my little one is SUPER strong and would tear playstands to pieces overnight! LOL

thanks for sharing and GREAT JOB, Jenn!

Cool! You did a great job, Jenn! Did it take a lot of hours or was it pretty fast with a team working on it? Like I know I could have the local lumber yard do the cutting since we're pretty challenged in the way of equipment and would have a hard time hauling boards as long as you listed.

I'm wondering on the cup hook idea--would their clothes get caught (maybe torn) if they were scooting under the area with the hooks? Just a thought.

Hey! They look very similar to a set of shelves I made! LOL The only difference is my shelves are at the top and middle, and no cross bar, and no rounded top. But the color of the pine is the same, and the shelf supports are exactly the same! LOL

Currently, it is residing in Suki's "clubhouse"..the area of the garage that is partitioned off with sheets to make "her" space. The shelves are for storing all her little important things.

you know that's why I hadn't done them yet.... and well why I still haven't done it.

I've been waiting to respond to your inquirey until I had an answer .... and I still don't have an answer.

You bring up a valid point.

On the length of time thing: It would have gone loads faster if
A) I could find any of the tools that dh has hiding in the garage instead of calling him every 5 mins to find out where things were
B)Dh hadn't recently parted with his individual tools in favor of a 3 in one model that uses batteries really fast and then takes 3 hrs to recharge

I'm thilled with how fun/easy/inexpensive it was to make that we will likely add them to our gift giving repratroi (lol I know that is not remotely spelled correctly.
