Fundraising

We are having our first fundraiser.

Our hula studio sells these brownies that sell SO fast, so I asked their hula teacher if she would share her source and why I was asking. She said that she would order them FOR ME and just add them on to her order. Today I picked up 3 boxes of 60 brownies! We're selling them for $1.50 each or 4/$5. So if they all sell as sets of 4/$5, we will make $36.60 per box... so $109 just for these!!!

Last time I had them (3 months ago) we sold out before the kids made it through the neighborhood and had people calling and stopping at my house trying to get more! I am hoping the kids can sell these tomorrow... and if they do, I will be getting more boxes from the hula studio.

The best part is it's getting the kids involved. The boys are wrapping up the sets of 4 right now. I snapped a couple of pictures of them on my bed sorting and packaging. I tried to download them to my puter, but I can't find my cable for my camera!

Today we counted out how much they made... they made $103.30 (don't ask me how we got 30 cents!)

They feel so good to have worked to raise some money for our adoption. The boys are so proud of themselves.

That's so cool Heather. Any news on how the whole process will work now that your preliminary paperwork is in? Did you check out my friend's website?

I did check out her website. Thanks so much!

Now we have more paperwork to fill out and gather. The homestudy agency requires a $200 application fee and the study is another $2000! But, it is the only agency on the island that is Hague accredited and works with the agency we chose for the placement. The plethora of paperwork for the placing adoption agency will require another $1400 when we submit that paperwork. oye. My plan is to have all of the paperowrk and fees sumbitted by the end of August - so the homestudy can be done while Shawn is here in Oct. Oh, I also need to start sending for criminal clearances for all the sates where we have lived in the last 5 years! nd I need to figure out if my Birth Registration is ok... I haven't ever had an original birth certificate, since my Dad adopted me (I think, I took his last name then, anyway - Mom and Dad got married when I was 7 mos old) I just am not sure if it will be acceptable. So, tracking down all the paperwork is going to take a while.

I also realized (doh!) I need to get a passport and I also need to get some medical exams - and a psych clearance. Why am I nervous about that one?

The path is long... and we're at the beginning.
