Since we are getting the baby from a family member, but dhr is involved we know we have to have a home study. We are definitely going to adopt. But are we seriously going to have to go through the 30 or so hours of 'training'? We have 3 children of our own already and we aren't goin to be just fostering, we are getting legal custody(hopefully) with the intent to adopt.

Anyone know?

I really don't know. It probably depends on your state, and their regulations. I know here they don't care how many kids you have already BUT that's for foster/adopt and not kinship care or whatever you are doing. I'm sick that they aren't giving you more info. though. Call and BUG them until they answer your questions. Take it from me, you shouldn't have to take that. Will they answer emails? I'd go that route if they aren't good with calling you back. Type up all of your questions and send them a good long email. HUGS

Ditto to what Lassie said

IMO, if you are doing kinship care, and then adopting, you won't have to do the training, BUT, you never know....For foster/adopt, you do have to do the training, no matter how many kids/experience you have (and I agree with this, btw).

Would I have to complete the training before he could come here or would it be ongoing while I have custody?
