We foster I was leary as well, but once I found my agency, all my fears were alleviated. Depending on where you live, there are private agencies (many are non-profit) that are contracted by DSS to licence foster families......this way, you have a "buffer" between you and CPS, you and the caseworkers. I find this an ideal setup. We are with Catholic Social Service (you don't need to be Catholic...or religous) and have been happy with them.

Things can go wrong, but you learn how to prevent them and protect yourself. Part of our training consisted of learning those skills.

Check out the fourms at www.fosterparents.com there is a ton of good info there!

Good luck!

Thank you! It's always good for me to read the positive. I know there are more children to come in my life--I am just not quite sure how we will meet.

We probably wont ever know anything - we dont have any rights to info. We tried asking our worker in the past, but the agency gets no info either as he was placed with his sister's grandparents who are non-agency.

So, the state would have allowed you to adopt him if you were willing?
