I haven't read through all the replies, but wanted to mention that we've adopted from India 3 times. The requirements may have changed since it's been 5 years (this month! ) since we brought Lauryn home, but we did not have to travel. Brianna was escorted and we did choose to travel to bring Reid and then Lauryn home. It was such a great experience to meet the people who cared for our children, especially Reid who was a special needs adoption. He owes his life to the excellent medical care and love he received in his orphanage. Both trips were less than a week, so there was not a huge, long trip involved.

It is funny how adoptive parents are led to their children. People ask us all the time how we chose India and our answer is that India chose us. There are children everywhere who need homes.
