I keep emailing

And no one ever contacts me.

We're looking to start either the foster or adoption process.

The fees and such involved scare me greatly as we're on a very limited budget, but the ache in my heart, as well as dh's tells us we need to start this path since who knows when/if we'll have more children.

I hate infertility, I really really do. Secondary is just so bad, because at least once my body got it right.

Every place I email or call, no one ever answers me.

Any ideas? I'd prefer fost adopt, dh would prefer a baby but no matter what works out, we're ready to do this.

(((Tara))) I am sorry to read that. I would not go with any agency that didn't return emails or phone calls in the beginning. The agency we chose was terrible about returning our calls and during the process it was frustrating at BEST. Of course, I don't know who you are calling... DHS is likely to be more that way, but there are no fees involved. I hope you get some answers. Please research whatever agency you go with. Are you LDS? A friend of mine almost adopted through the LDS agency and it was quite a bit less expensive! She ended up adopting twin one year old boys through another state, who she brought home last week!

Anyway, hugs. I know and have felt your pain. It stinks, but it will all be worth it once you have your baby/child home.

What state are you in? They can be sloooooooow, just keep calling and leaving messages.

If you do foster/adopt through your state there aren't any expenses

Thanks mamas. I am LDS. So far I haven't gotten phone calls or emails returned even from the State or from LDS adoption, but those aren't the only agencies we've contacted.

We will keep on keeping on!

Oh, I'm in Utah too.

I'm so sorry for your struggles, mama.

If you do a search for "hana" under this adoption forum and marketplace, there's a mama here who adopted a baby about 4.5 years ago from an agency in Illinois. I think it's called The Adoption Link. Don't know what race you want, though. They only deal with AA or biracial babies. Most are 3 days old and healthy.

HTH some,

Posts: 1,375 Let me ditto everything lassie says about race and adoption. You do really need to make sure you are ready to become a multiracial family before you adopt a black child into a white family. Your whole life changes in so many ways. That said, for anyone interested in a newborn (3 days old) African American baby, placed within about 12-15 months from your application date (they use a waiting list, not a book where you wait and wait, hoping to be matched), for about the cost of the tax credit (and trust me, when your child is in your arms, cost will no longer matter), let me highly recommend Adoption-Link in Oak Park, Illinois. (adoptionlinkillinois.com)

I have found them to be highly ethical, particularly toward babies and birth parents, but also in their interaction with parents who might otherwise have a difficult time adopting. I cannot speak highly enough of them. The reason the child is placed with you at three days is because the birth mother cannot sign off her parental rights until 72 hours after birth. In this way, you are largely protected from a "failed" adoption. Also, you are told, when you are first called with a possible match, about any conditions (drug or alcohol use, parents' health) so that you can make the choice about whether this is the right match for you.

Anyways, there's my addition. And, hey, lassie, sounds like things are gong great for you--I'm so glad! What a miracle babies are.

Fund Raising: these are some things we are doing. I think (personal opinion here) you need to be careful with your fund raisers as some day it will reflect on your child.

Part of our move was to save for this adoption. So far it is back firing and miserable but you already know that story.

I am going to start putting away a certain ammount a month in an account set up for our adoption. Choose an ammount, however small or large, within your budget. The ammount I have chosen would be small to some and large to others.

I am trying to get stuff together for a garage sale. It will be advertised as just a garage sale...not a fund raiser. But we got rid of most of our stuff before we moved, so this isn't going well....LOL.

THis is my start but I am sure I will find more. I really am hoping the move will eventually help.

Edited to add: Most of the adoption agencies I have contacted have been for China or other international adoption. So, if you are interested I can pass on the experience I have had with them.
