A child Called It

Have you ever read a gut-wrenching and painful book lately? A Child Called It is definitely one of those kinds of books. For Parents who do not want to see their children be abused or hurt, this book is for you.

I've read it, along with both sequels. Good and disturbing. I'm so glad the boy survived to adulthood and became successful.

Definitely one of the most terrible ordeals for a child that I have ever encountered. While reading the book I was wondering how a mother could treat her own son like an animal. Even pets are treated better.

Maybe the site can showcase the book for all the parents to read and share their thoughts. I think this could open the way for these kinds of situations to be brought out into the light. I pity both the parents and their children who suffer the same fate. It's very unfair that this could happen to an otherwise happy family.

I have talked to several people who loved this book but knowing what it is about, I can't bring myself to read it.

You should try it one time but you better be prepared. Anyway you'll be amazed at the kid's survival instinct. Such a wonderful story of human resilience.

I don't think you should. I think it will upset you a great deal. It will break your heart and you've got enough on your plate. Maybe wait until your kids are grown and THEN read it.

Why wait? There's no harm in reading a book, In fact it will be a great learning experience for you as a parent. We should absorb as much wisdom and information as we can in our lives, may it be painful or delightful.

I know her quite well and I know how upsetting the book will be to her, more even than maybe most would be upset and I was telling her as her friend that I think it won't help her life be any better by reading the book. I actually wish *I* hadn't read it.

Well according to my personal experience it was actually the opposite. After reading I was amazed that somebody can survuve such a painful ordeal and even get to live a normal life. I saw it in a positive perspective.
