What's your technique/routine?

I've been interested in EFT for several years - ever since being introduced to it by a therapist of mine. I've read the pdf and get the newsletter, but I seem to be missing something. Should I tap every day routinely? And say the same things (assuming they are still valid for me)? Do you tap more than once a day? Do you tap for 10, 15, 20 minutes at a time? I've tried tapping for more than 5 minutes and I just kind of peter out. And then I forget to do it the next day, etc, so I end up almost never tapping anymore.

The big thing for me is weight loss right now - and getting motivated to eat better. So I tap all the points with each general area that I need to tackle, and then I simply can't think of anything else to say. Every now and then a new feeling crops up, so I tap on that, but otherwise I just feel like a tapping failure! LOL Should I write down some stock phrases to help? I just feel like stopping to read something kinda takes me out of my zone - but maybe I don't need a zone? Help! What do you do?

Hi,

There are varying levels of problems that can be addressed with EFT.
Weight loss is a multi-layered event so I am not surprised you aren't seeing results.

Here's a post from the EFT Forum I like:

"The easiest is a single remembered non-traumatic event or maybe minor trauma event.

The next easiest problem to get handled comes from a medium traumatic single event.

A severely traumatic event will likely have many aspects and will be more difficult.

If the core issue is not remembered (maybe a past life memory) this can get even more difficult.

And lastly a problem that has dozens or hundreds of tentacles (events) will be the most difficult. "

The personal peace procedure is a good place to start. Here's a link: The Personal Peace Procedure

Also, read through the case studies here and on emofree.com. That will give you some ideas on how folks approach their tapping.

Another approach is to focus on cravings ... that will give you a substantial issue to work on that is also specific.

HTH,
Deborah
