Barb,
Did you watch Deborah's Youtube videos that are stickied at the top of the forum? That defintely shows the points and the order. Order is not important, but certianly until you have it learned, then do it in the same order. Sometimes random tapping can be helpful...I mean of random points, not in order.
If you are reacting negatively to your children's behaviour...you can go to a quiet place and just tap and say all the the negative talk you are thinking out loud(or keep it in your head) you can do it at the time or later in the day.
THink about the intensity. On a 0/10 scale how intense are you feeling about the situation?
For example...
While tapping on the karate chop spot...
Even though my daughters whining is making me insane...and I just want to smack her...I deeply and completely accept myself
Even though I don't want to take care of her, I just want to run and hide...
Even though I want to smush my child when she gets so needy.....
then move your tapping to..
top of the head and say ~I want to smush my child
eyebrow...~I cannot stand her whining...
outisde of eye~ I don't want to take care of her
~under nose~when is someone going to take care of me???
Chin~ I hate the whining...
collarbone~I want to run and hide
under arm~I get so angry when she is like this!
After a round or two(or when you feel moved to) stop and think about your 0/10 scale and see how intense you are. has it come down? changed?
Physical stufff. You can just tap on the sensations.
Rate the physical disomfort on a zero to 10 scale. Then start tapping on the Karate chop point.
Even though I have this 8/10 pain in the middle of my back..
Even though I have the throbbing pain that won't let me sit up striahgt...
evne though I this pain in my back keeps me from sleeping at night...
Then at each point...use a reminder phrase..
this 8/10 pain,
throbbing pain in the middle of my back
keeps me up at night
this 8/10 pain...
and keep tapping. Then when you feel like stopping, check the intensity. check in on the pain and see if it has changed location(yes, it DOES this) intensity, quality...etc.
Here is an article. There are many in regards to chasing the pain. You can ask yourself if there is an emotional driver behind the pain? Anger? does the pain recurr in certain situations...certain conditions?
A clever "Chasing the Pain" case
