Allergic reaction and EFT!

I've not been on the boards much these days. I'll be honest in saying I haven't been doing much EFT, either. Things are going well, though, and we are adjusting, slowly, to being a homeschooling family (we just got our books on Wednesday, LOL).

Anyway, last night, I ate some corn bread made from organic corn I've had im my freezer for quite some time that I ground into cornmeal. I had eaten a bunch of it the day before fresh from the oven as well. I also took a vitamin (a new kind that DH had picked up for me at the company's surplus store). I had avoided taking them because I prefer "my brand," but I had run out and hadn't taken vitamins in a while and was feeling like I needed to be taking them. This was the third time I had taken these. And, I took my Zoloft and went to bed.

I woke up feeling my sinuses filling on the left side of my head. I blew my nose, and lamented that I was obviously getting sick. As I often do, I worked on positive visualization and sat up to take a drink of water to "wash it away." I happened to touch the back of my arm and notice hives. Then, as I lay there, it was getting worse. My windpipe felt like it was closing up, my eyes and chest were itchy, my head was filling, and I was coughing. I started to tap. First, I tapped on corn. It must have been the corn. It helped a bit, but I could feel it still getting worse, and I started to panic a bit, wondering if I should wake my husband, what I would do with my kids if I had to rush to the hospital, etc. I started trying to think of what homeopathic remedy I should take--Aconite is for fevers with fear, what about this? I couldn't remember if it was good for allergies. Then I remembered the vitamins. At the same time, I worried that it was the Zoloft, and tapped a little on that too. Once I tapped on the vitamins, things cleared up pretty quickly. I remembered from one of the DVDs (thank you, Linda!!!) that the karate chop point was super helpful if someone was in anaphylaxis. That helped, too. I tapped for maybe 30-40 minutes, kept tapping after the worst of it was over to try to clear it out completely. I got up and got another glass of water (again, the whole idea of washing it away). This morning, I felt groggy, and my head felt a little stuffy and itchy, as it has in the past when I have had major reactions to cats, but generally good.

I'm sure it would be an interesting experiment to take the vitamins again, but I don't think I'm up for that....

Once again, I am so thankful to have EFT in my life!

Miss you too Jodie -- glad to hear all's well. Great work on the tapping .... esp. in the middle of an allergic reaction -- way to go! (and as an OT fyi - homeopathic apis is often for hot, red, allergic swelling ... I tend to use both remedies and EFT -- but hey- you did great with just EFT!)

Big hugs,
Deb.
