Patchy clothes on Ebay *caution*

I wish I would have known about the mama's here that do patchwork. I posted so many times with no response so I went to ebay to get a casual nursing dress.

It fell apart the first washing. After the second washing I had to resew 7 different areas.
I have only had the dress about a month and paid $50 for it and it is literally shredding. (gauze bodice).
The nursing area has no closure and the applique was frayed and the ugliest sun I have ever seen. But I would have lived with those things had it not needed so much repair after washing the way I was instructed.

Red Hot Mama is the designer. Be careful. I feel I threw away $50 and she is not willing to work with me becuase it has been a month. (in which she told me she woudl be in Finland for a month)
Basically I got ripped or lied to or both.

Red Hot Mama on ebay. Be careful, mama's.

Now to go look for mama's patchy work here

Wow that stinks!

I'm so glad you posted the note! I've been watching her stuff on eBay for like a year and was planning to give DH the link to see if I could get him to get me a skirt from her for my birthday in November. I think my plans just changed.

Sorry your dress didn't hold up.

I don't know what the mama's here at Amitys sell, Michelle,
but see if your budget can ever allow for
http://beyeeglad.com or
http://www.phunkymonkeythreads.com

Be Yee Glad threads is the sweetest mama and her work is absolute QUALITY!
phunkymonkey is also works of art.

Or buy used clothing off ebay. I have never had a problem with the used clothing I get so far on ebay.
Just can't always get a hold of nursing dresses though.

If you get anything from Red hot mama -avoid the gauze.
And applique will cost you extra and so will nursing openings and both of these were bad from the beginning.
Maybe if you find another style, it will last.

Poor gal is a single mom, but I am a mother of 7 so my budget is just as tight.

Ah man! I am sorry! Her being a single mom should have nothing to do with the fact that she is selling a product for a decent amount of $ and it should be quality, yk?

I know of one awesome designer on eBay that does patchwork. Her stuff is more a work of art than an article of clothing, IMO. Let me see if I can find her ID again. I think it may be sew-fun.

I mainly do strippy clothing right now, but planning to start my first detailed patchwork starting tomorrow. Don't know how long it will take me, but I'm psyched.

I sewed a nice big patchwork bag yesterday for my Mama. You could see it in the sewing forum.

My friend Valerie used to do nice nursing stuff-The Rag Lady, but she may not be doing them anymore...not sure.

I hear your pain Kristerae!!

WOW, just checked out phunkymonkey! Really cool. I'm going to have to make myself something like her sea turtle skirt in a nursing dress. I did a strip skirt and tank last week in puple with a moon rising over a tree applique Just drafting and experimenting with a nursing dress pattern.. I'm going to play with it a bit, make and wear some myself and then I'll give you mamas a heads up with the progress.

Hastings !

The time and effort involved in patchwork...amazing!

And then your neck, back and butt falls off after being at it for so long! LOL It would be OK with me if my butt fell off!

I'm all for losing extras (I'm willing to donate my back to anyone that'll trade right now!). Yeah-- it can be a bit tedious, but the results are so much fun love how your bag turned out btw I just really like patch stuff and can't force it on enough family members so I'm gonna have to go pro lol. Just glad I discovered clothing. Everyone I know already has enough quilts to survive an iceage.
