Where do ebay sellers get stuff so cheap?

How do they get this stuff? I really want this specific hair conditioner, and the bidding always starts at $9.99 for it, but then it ends up going so high, I might as well just order it from the darn company!
Where the heck do these sellers get stuff from? Some guy in a New York alley?

i dunno....

I wonder this too. So many items on there are hard to buy and resell and still make a profit - if at all. Maybe they buy things in bulk wholesale...but still...I would love to do ebay full time. My neighbors across the street sold 1800 items on there last month and that's their full time job. They must make pretty good money too, because they own a house, have 2 cars, a huge delivery truck, and just went on vacation to Manhattan. They sell antiques, too.

I know that a friend of mine gets a lot from the Dollar Tree and Big Lots. And if you live near a good factory store, like Mattel or Malden Mills you can get great deals. I go to second hand stores here in Sacramento where I find Hanna and American Girl etc for $1.00 -- but you never know, it's hit and miss.

You just have to sort of know what to look for. I'm a hit and miss kind myself. Things I think will never sell go high and 'sure fire' hits are duds. I dunno!

My mom is an ebayer and she lives near a Mattel outlet. On Thursdays, they have big sales, but you have to be there to get the prices and they'll knock barbies down to rock bottom prices, so she makes a big profit sometimes. She sells lots of barbies and toys and makes a decent profit, sometimes she makes just a few $s over, sometimes she gets quadruple the price she paid, it just depends. But she does a lot of research for what particular barbies are "hot" on ebay.

If there is something on ebay I want, I'll research it and will almost always find where the ebayers are getting it from. I wanted to get dd some particular puppets, it was a whole set and they kept going for around $30 and I just couldn't believe I was going to have to pay that, so I went searching for these puppets and found them online at a store for $12.95.
