Unhappy Now what?!

Okay - so I've been a sewing fiend the last couple of days....The diapers I've made are toooooooooo cute & I'm thrilled....

BUT.....

My finished product is 19" long ---- my newborn may not even be that long!

What's a good length to shoot for - for a newborn until about 3 or 4 months, I suppose??

I want to make sure I'm getting the best value out of my fabric & time......any help would be appreciated!

All of our itty-bitty diapers are long gone, so I can not measure for you.

Hopefully a mama of a little will see this soon and help.

I'm confused...are you sewing flats/prefolds? Or are you sewing fitteds?

Well, my small/newborn fitteds have an unstretched rise of 13" and they are 16" when fully stretched out. I think preemie prefolds are about 12 inches, so somewhere between 12 and 16 inches would be about right, I think.

when I made diapers as a WAHM YEARS ago...like 8 years ago, I remember the newborn/smalls had a rise of about 12-13 inches for prefolds and 12-14 inches for fitted. hth

Here's a bit of my first diaper making effort......

The 'bundle' on the left is my ring sling.....
The middle piles are diapers.....
The diaper bag on the right is filled with plain old, boring, white dipes....
The "Snoopy" item over the diaper bag is my nursing blanket....

...Some of her diapers will match her blankie!! I *LOVE* Snoopy!!

....and yes, of course, there's Peyton..... .....if the camera's out, she's close by!
