Which do you prefer on a newborn??

Do you think its more comfy to have side snapping covers or velcro front closing covers on a newborn? I plan on using a combo of pinned prefolds and fitteds. Their little legs are always curled up and I'm afraid the velcro might poke them, but they seem to be the smallest and trimmest looking. Any advice? I have mommy brain right now and want someone else to decide for me!

Perhaps try a few of both. I much prefer side snapping, but since they tend not to strip at that age...well front aplix would work. I always thought it was a matter of preference

How about wool soakers? They pull on so no worries about aplix or snapping the dipe.

I have a confession- I HATE the sound velcro makes. So, although we started with Bummis, I was thrilled to switch to ME side snaps. Yes, the side snapping ones were much more billowy, but I didn't have to listen to that awful sound at every diaper change. I will say that the bummis never left a rub or mark on my babies; it really was the sound alone that drove me to other covers.

I love front aplix wraps on a newborn. I think they're so easy. I've heard some people say the sound of the aplix scared their baby, but I never had that problem.

I used aplix wraps (Prorap) and aplix aios (homemade) on my most recent newborn. They both worked great. I made sure that the aplix wasn't folded over towards his skin and I don't remember him being scratched or frightened. (my older dd was startled by the aplix sound, but only when she was asleep)

hth!
