Question Cloth diapers and daycare

My sil in expecting and is considerin gusing cloth dipes. She had a daycare center (yes, she doesn't want to inconvenience me by asking me to babysit...LOL) tell her they prefer not to handle cloth diapers.

Has anyone used cloth diapers in a daycare setting or have suggestions of how she can do it? I have my own thoughts but wanted to see what others have to say.

TIA

Maybe they are thinking of a different kind of diaper? .. or maybe they are scared to loose them ??

That would be totally frustrating!!

* ponders *

maybe she could take in a diaper of hers and show the place how they work and ask if they could use them... if they say okay then she would probubly have to supply and wash her own .. so maybe she could make a HUGE diaper bag with 2 huge pockets with a leak resistant fabric .. so that they could pull clean ones out of one side and put the dirty ones in the other side .. and then the whole bag could be washed ..

But maybe that would smell to much .. * sighs* I'm stumped on how i would deal with that since i haven't had to deal with it before.

I live in ND and as daycare providers we were not allowed to accept kids in cloth diapers.. hopefully your state is different and they are just being picky... good luck... The states have to be in everyones diapers in ND... lol

There is some concern about handling the waste in a cloth diaper (but not a disposable, go figure). Perhaps if she used aio's they would be more amenable, as these are handled the same as disposables. Also, my suggestion would be to send a separate dirty bag for the diapers that could be swapped daily, so that the care providers could feel that they were not handling so much waste. I believe in some states the care provider makes his/her own decision on diapers, but will claim that it is law. If she feels very strongly about it, she should research the law herself.

Oh, one other thought would be to include as many covers as diapers, sort of like an aio, but maybe it would be less expensive, especially if the care providers could separate the diapers from the covers. Then she could just air the covers and send them again?

I would bring in a diaper (perhpas a AIO or pocket) to show them. They may be more inclined to allow it.

Also show them a wetbag to put the dirty diaper in. You can always dump the poo later. And if this is the issue for them, remind them that with disposables by law, they are to be flushing the poo as well.

When my oldest was 1 he was in home daycare for about a year. The first lady wouldnt consider cloth even though his poor butt was oozing and raw from sposies. I found another lady who was more than willing to use my cloth. I just sent a wet bag every day and she just put them in it and I dumped and washed them myself. When she had her dd a few months ago, she had me make her a stash since she thought mine were so cute. Now I watch her cute baby girl once a week I'd bring a few to them and show them how easy it is with AIO's.
