Anyone tried flats?

Maybe I am a glutton for punishment, but what about it? Have you used them? How did they work? I am intrigued by the idea of a diaper that I can fold any which way as seems to fit my need without lots of extra fabric. Also, it sure seems like they would get cleaner. I am unafraid of pinning.

I have attempted it, but just can't quite get them folded correctly. I'm still practicing though. It does seem much more trim than a prefold or fitted though - if only I could get it to stay on LOL

I love flats! I love that they get cleaner in the wash and dry faster. They are cheaper and your kid doesn't out grow them! And they have a few folding options too, you get to pick which fit you like best. And when you're done, you can cut em up and use em as dish rags or whatever lol.
the thing I love most though is just the feeling that I get when using them. I feel like a supermom. Hey look guys, I made my kid's diaper out of nothing but a 27 by 27 inch peice of flannel fabric and a saftey pin!
Yes, flats are great!

I also really like flats-even the cheap birdseye ones I started with. Though the hemp ones I use now are great! I started with flats and fleece covers and if I just would stayed away from all the dipe sites I'd probably still be using this simple method! But alas, I've gotten spoiled by fitteds and AIOs....
I never even pinned them though I would with an older babe that moved more-just used a wrap cover when I started.
There are some sites with lots of flat folds though I'm not sure what they are at the moment www.diaperpin.com might have them listed....

If you want to save some money and have cleaner dipes, they are worth a try. They dry fast too!
