What diaper system would you recommend for a 1 yr old (what are your favorites?)?

A friend of mine e-mailed me, asking me what I would recommend for cloth diapering. I am so out of the loop! Yes, I have cd'ed for years, but my "stash" is soooo sad and pathetic, I just can't think of what to tell her. I don't think she wants to hear "holey prefolds and proraps with gunked up velcro". lmbo.

So, from those of you, who actually buy new diapers occassionally, what's out there that you love? She needs to know relatively soon. I'm not sure how much the baby weighs, but I know she is going to be 1 yr old in less than two weeks.

TIA!!

I have an 18mo old and we use prefitted fabfolds with a snappi from Grow me a Rainbow and wool covers mostly.
I love that they are fitteds yet very simply. The wool covers we use are elbees, fuz easy, and righteous baby. We also have some soakers for nighttime.

We do have a few AIO for when daddy or gramma changes and my favorite is mudpie baby.
HTH!

Jenny,
There are so many options, is your friend wanting easy, affordable, hyena,??
The following are what I like and are pretty easily obtained.

Randi makes cute affordable dipes.

bumkins, and a ton of other things prefolds, covers, happy heinys, kissaluvs, & Grannys Ark you can get these from Jenni at

ETA that Jenni and Heather are also having a sale right now.

I have realized in the past couple of months that it is sooo subjective---it totally depends upon what fits her babe best, and that can REALLY vary babe to babe. Is there an AP group in her area, so she could perhaps hook up with other CD'ing mamas to check fit, etc, of different dipes and covers?

Personally, I really like prefolds laid in nicer covers---and going cheap on the dipes helps save money for wool, lol. When we're out (the only time he is diped), my nearly 2-yr old is still wearing the infant cpfs he wore at birth (I change him as soon as he pees, though---if I didn't, I'd need more absorbancy). My current favorite is a prefold trifolded and laid in a Sugarpeas wool or a Toot Sweet wool

Maybe I'm "old-school" but I'm a prefold/bummis/prorap mama all the way.

As my dd got older and started fighting diaper changes I preferred AIOs. I really like www.angelwraps.com and www.lucyshopechest.com They are both reasonably priced, I think.
