Why not an AIO?

So one Mam's question got me thinking.

I too have motherease and really like them, but then again I didn't have them with a newborn. DS waas about 3mo old when we started using them.

With the thought of a new child looming in the future, I was wondering if I should go with prefolds and wraps. A mother in my LLL mtgs wants to give me all of her covers, just to get rid of them, and well, now what?

What prefolds are better than the others? Pins intimidate me a bit, so how do the snappi fasteners do?

Also, why would I want to go with a prefold/cover?

HELP!!!

Any advice would be great advice!

why not do a combination?

we usually use pf/covers at home, and we have some cute aio's for when we are out and about

snappis imo take a couple tries to get good at, but once ya do....

why not AIO

Well, pfs are ok at home. I have pins and snappis, but usually i use the pins, because I've noticed the snappis pull at the pfs and cause a lot of wear and tear. I've used bleached and unbleached pfs and I recommend the unbleached- way softer against baby's skin. I got mine at earthbaby.com and just love 'em.
The covers will be nice. On the go you could use fitted diapers under them. That would be more economical than AIOs. We use velcro Honeyboy! or snapping Ecobaby fitteds under our covers on the go. It works great.
Also, AIOs don't hold up well over the long haul- and we've tried different kinds- so in our opinion they aren't a good investment. But some like them anyway.

I have a bit of everything and I find that I reach for my prefolds more than anything. If we are going out then I use an aio or a pocket. I use pins and a snappi (not at the same time LOL) the snappi is super easy, I'm still practicing with the pins though.

Although I love AIOs and used them on my last child....

the prefolds really dried a heck of a lot faster in either a dryer or hanging in the sun!

That's one reason I might choose them given a choice.

We have a combo...very rare that we use the AIOs. We're just waiting until her bms are less to use other diapers. We use mainly pfs. She is still to small for the fitted ones and the pocket ones.
