I am on major declutter mode before school starts, anyone else?

I feel like I want to be total organized before my kids go back to school.
I just totally cleaned out my son's room, got rid of 4 bags of stuff, gave 2 huge bags of too small winter clothes to a friend, vacuumed the floor & corners and moved his furniture around for a fresh look. I am going to do my dd's & baby's room next. Oh, and I just sold the baby crib on craigslist! And they came to put it up tonight!!! Yay!

Well, we homeschool, so no back to school here, but we started a major declutter a few weeks ago, went on vacation for a week to Hawaii, came home and did a GIANT de-clutter. Listed a bunch of big stuff on Craigslist (2 strollers, little tikes climbing thing, little tikes slide, step 2 car, kid's mountain bike, all that was for $$, then we had a bunch of free stuff too).

Before we went on vacation, we took a minivan load to the dump (not stinky garbage, just junk that we had no use for and didn't think anyone else would either!) I want to say it was 300lbs. worth. That's a LOT. We were still unpacking boxes from when we moved here (a little over a year ago), and we had SO MUCH misc. stuff. I went through all my clothes and donated a giant pile, and put a ton up on ebay, and gave some to my Mom (I still have a lot of clothes, but it's stuff I like now). Went through the kid's clothes/toys, donated some, put some on eBay.

The house looks less cluttered. My bedroom feels more peaceful (well, unless I look under the bed, then it's scary, lol). I feel more organized. I know I can get rid of even more too.

well, we had a yardsale two weeks ago and i parted with quite a bit then, but i brought the rest home (we had it at a family members house) to have another later...i'm thinking i may just donate it all tho, i don't have the time to keep having yardsales!
i just cleaned up shelby's room friday, she was having a hard time keeping it clean w/ the amount of toys/stuff that was in there, so we purged and we're getting rid of THREE black lawn sized trash bags of toys!
i need to do the boys' room too, but since i keep it pretty tidy, i'll probably only get about ONE bag out of it...hmmm, comparitively, seems like the princess really *is* a princess eh? lol
i also need to purge my sewing space...i've got so much i'm not using or could ever use. it's quite overwhelming!

I'm waiting until school starts and I'm completely alone. Much easier to clean and declutter for me.

I accomplished my dd's/baby's room and got 5 bags worth of donations. I vaccuumed and moved funiture as well. Blind Society is coming Monday morning to pick it up so, I only have 1 more day to look at the bags piled up in my livingroom. On to my room...which is another story. Not looking forward to it.

I'm with Alohamelly...I'm planning to declutter the kids' toys in September when they are at school and can't complain about what's gone. Cruel, but necessary. I know what they use and love and won't give that away, but there are some things they have outgrown.

Mold decluttered the stuffed animals for me. Some I did want to save, they were from when Katie was a baby. *sniff* But we're probably better off. Our garage, where we were storing all of this, got wet this spring and full of mold.

However I do have the house basically organized and functioning smoothly, and am working this week on prepping snacks ahead of time, like muffins, that can be frozen and sent to school to thaw in the lunchbox.

I have decluttered a lot this summer, and there is still some more to go, but mostly, the stuff that is here needs organization. I had decluttered toys, but they still seem problematic, so I may pare them down a bit more once school starts. The kids' bookshelves are overflowing, so I think I really need to do some work there.

I am currently working on cleaning/organizing my office closets (two huge closets, one mostly filled with important papers and office supplies, the other with games and craft supplies. Then there's the computer desk... I have done some purging from these, but they have to be better organized.

I am nesting in a big way--almost 21 weeks. I tend to start early as I know it takes me awhile, and I know if these things don't get done, they won't be done for at least a couple more years. Also, I need my house to be organized so the kids can be delegated chores, etc. I've made a lot of progress, but there is still a ton of work to do.

I am halfheartidly decluttering. We will be moving in January and this will be a big move -- to Europe. So we will bring only books, clothes, toys for dd, couple favorite kitchen things and a small box of craft supplies for me and some electronic stuff dh has (heīs a geek, lol). Everything else will have to go. So I am looking through stuff and trying to let go and getting rid of some too but mostly just preparing myself to leaving it all. I think it will be easier to do it in one go about a week before we leave. I decluttered about half a year ago and some spaces (well, one closet) have gotten a bit out of hand but we donīt have much that we donīt use now. Iīll just hold onto it 4 more months...

We homeschool and have already started our lessons earlier this month, but we are still decluttering. My goal is one grocery-bag-sized bag each day. So far, so good this week.....I took one big (garbage bag-size) bag to the thrift store today, plus gave two bags of items to friends for their kids!
