While decluttering and doing my Spring cleaning I realized that I will NEVER catch up. I have (had) an entire closet dedicated to supplies and my photos sat in boxes for so long they were starting to stick together.
I went out and bought 2 photo albums at sam's. Enough to hold 1000 prints. Not even close to enough. Went and bought 4 more (2000 photos) still not enough. Getting warmer tho. I'm almost finished and I will top 10 albums.
I put them in as I came to them, no rhyme or reason, no ordering. I even included the photos from my Grandmother. Some prints are over 60 years apart in age. What fun trying to figure out which baby is whom. LOL.
I am not a scrapbooker, either. I need to buy more photo albums, so I can get all my photos out of the storage box under my bed. They do no one any good there.
I am decluttering my closet for good this time. I have thrown away shoes (A big deal for me, I love shoes). I have gotten rid of most of my clothes that I haven't worn in years, even if I love them. I promise to stop holding onto things just because they are pretty or hold senitmental value -- if I will not ever wear them again, they should go to someone who will.
Maybe I need to post a sign on my closet reminding me of this...
See, I was like that....with scrapbooking. But I realized it was because of a few things.....1. Trying to do too much too fast....starting scrapbooking when your kids are already 12, 6 and 5 is hard! 2. Not having a good place to do it at and leave it out
I felt overwhelmed, and aggravated having no space....so I decided to give up on it. But recently realized I did not want to, and that I could do smaller projects, or even just add caption or such to my photos, and that was scrapbooking....kwim? So I am back in the game, lol, taking it slow....and with a desk! Whoohoo....all mine, only mine. (o;

i have so much craft crap. who needs like 5 different types of glue??
i dunno. if i can just find a way to organize this all, it would be great. there has got to be a way!
i have minimal scrapbooking stuff, and i bought this awesome scrapbooking backpack at a store on clearance. it is great! holds everything so it is out of the way!
if only i could buy backpacks for all of my craft crapola.
and i am weeding out the livingroom closet tomorrow. all old coats, shoes, everything GONE. buh-bye. tired of it collecting dust.
a few key things i am having trouble with- my scrap book collection of antique doll articles from like 1850... should i sell these? or keep? i never get them out, but they are from my childhood. there is about 4, i think. and my wedding dress. sell? my daughter will never fit into it... but maybe a granddaughter would... i should put all these things into my hope chest. and maybe get rid of the kabillion yards of upholstery fabric that i will never use.
have to drop everyone off at baseball so i can get this going again. tonight will be a subway night for din din so i can get this done!
There was a great article in Simple Scrapbooks about this topic maybe last month. I will try to look. Anyway if you have a chance you should definitely check it out it is worth it to see how the editor did a scrapbook with tons of photos and used a regular album.
Scrapbooking for me is therapy plus it is a way I can connect with my family so I will never give it up but I have realized that I like the simple styles. I don't spend a ton of time on pages and I do very few pages with less than 4 or 5 photos on one page. So many of my layouts will have 7-10 or more photos on them. This just seems to work for me.
Amity about your scrapbook collection from when you were a kid maybe pick the best 2 and keep them and sell the rest. And find a place to display them so they can be enjoyed. I think that is the one thing that I hear them say over and over again on the show clean sweep. If you have something that is meaningful to you it shouldn't be hidden away or collecting dust under a pile of things.
I am cleaning out my books and probably my cookbook collection. I am also really downsizing my closet and shoes. Things I wear, look good in and are comfortable are staying, the rest is going.

i'm with amity on the craft crap. i've been lugging this stuff from home to home over the past ten years. so far i've decluttered my soap making supplies (used up all the soap and then got rid of all the supplies), and candle making supplies (just gave it all away), random craft items (beads, buttons, etc.).
i'm left with a bunch of stamps (my mil gave them to me...i still haven't gotten over them enough to give them away), stamp pads, acrylics, crayons, markers, my old pottery tools, card making supplies, and some other random stuff. it fits nicely in to my rubbermaid containers under my kitchen island.
i've also recently gotten rid of clothing that i don't love and wear, random kitchen items (i'm still confused as to why i let folks talk us in to putting so much *stuff* on our registry...do we really need all the lasagna dishes...especially when i have some great glass ones with covers for freezing?), and books.
my goals before the babe arrives are to tackle our rag/drop cloth collection (oh, yah, i did get rid of a bunch of old blankets that we used when we moved across the country) that fills about ten milk crates. and the two dozen milk crates we have are another thing altogether.
dh has also promised to go through his clothes, his piles of teaching materials in the living room, and his boxes of empty folders and notebooks.
ah, i love the feeling of decluttering...and the tasks seem to never end.

It's not fine china and I asked DH in case he would be upset if I donated it to Goodwill.
For me I am no longer going to keep fabric scraps leftover from sewing projects! I find if I am going to use some of the leftover material I tend to use it right away (like making doll clothes). I use a cardboard (it's my theme eh to use cardboard? LOL!) 4 drawer chest for my sewing materials.
We may be moving from Orlando, FL to Las Angeles, CA soon so my youngest can be near UCLA and the Shriner's to repair his birth defects. I need to declutter! We live in a 200sqft house with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths on 1/2 acre and in LA a 1000 sqft apt costs $2000 & up! (We may not actually live in LA since it's so expensive...)
I have these baby blankets my mom crocheted for each of my kids. I never used them much since I've always lived in FL (or GA where 2 of my kids were born). I am planning on keeping them and giving them to the kids when they move out (I can dream eh? LOL!) along with portraits and the outfits the kids wore in them plus a favorite toy. My mom gave me a kind of time capsule from when I was a kid and it's neat! It doesn't take up too much space and you get to declutter by giving it away to your child when they're older!
I need to tackle the hall linen closet! I can't get the door shut! I need to get rid of some of those old cloth diapers! I use them for mopping and dusting and mopping up spills but I certainly don't need so many dozens of them eh? Ahh the memories!
