I think there are a few people who are going to be late on this one, because a few people had thought this was due to be amiled this coming Friday and not this past friday.
Here is how I have always made dino eggs ... stick your dino into a balloon (not blown up). It takes a little work to get it in there but it will go. Blow up the balloon to the desired size and tie. Mix up paper mache paste (equal parts water, white glue and white flour) and tear paper strips. Coat a paper strip in the paper mache mixture, wring it out with your fingers to remove excess and put over balloon. Do this until the balloon is thoroughly covered. Let dry, making sure you turn them so that they don't get moldy spots (yuck!). Then stick a pin in it to pop the balloon and paint the egg.
You can also make them like treasure stones ... let me go find my recipe.
1 C. used coffee grounds
1/4 C. sand
1/2 C. salt
1 C. flour or more
1 C. water
Mix all dry ingredients. Slowly add water and knead until dough-like. Shape into balls. Make a hole in the ball big enough to hide treasures in it.. Put a "treasure" into the hole, then seal the hole with some extra dough. Air dry for 2-3 days or bake in the oven on a cookie sheet at 150ºF for about 15-20 minutes.
Break the rock open to find the treasure.
