Dear Mom and Dad- I may parent differently than you did. This does not mean that I think you did it "wrong." However, it also does not mean I am doing it wrong.

thanks to everyone for posting what they are making, so far. Anyone else know? I will want to start on something soon but don't want to take anyone's ideas. I have none so far so if you have one, please post it so Lorena can update the OP.

Not being too pushy am I?

I just want this to be a really awesome swap cause we love NA items here and there are lots of things that can be made!!

Does anyone know of a good leather source? Or woudl the veggies in this swap prefer i use felt? I'm making a traditionally dresses Native woman, i have an idea to do a beaded dress and mocassins.

I woudl love to make it with suede and glass beads, but oly if there are no objections to an animal product.

What about a medicine bag, or something like that. Maybe made of suede-like material with fringe and some beads? That would be cool to keep our goodies in.

This isn't even a swap I'm in but being the butt-insky I apparently am, here are some more ideas:

Some sort of baby carrier
Corn or another food domesticated by native americans
buffalo
drums
horses
playmat
petroglyphs (ok, that's *really* old but should still count?)
dream catcher
cornhusk doll
blankets (saddle or bedding or otherwise)
kachina doll (if you are comfy with doing that)
canoe
beads or a "kit" for making (and remaking!) a necklace or bracelet
sand art
shields
bowls for preparing food
baskets, baskets, baskets
medicine bag/pouch
quiver/arrows
vegetation
food: berries to pick, fish to catch
feathers or bear claws
arrowheads
(bored yet?)

I'll, uh, be lurking to see what you all end up making lol!

Leather/suede is fine with me Kris. Ask Heather - she has awesome leather sources.

Craftymammax5 - if you have yuor heart set on making some kind of bag, then I think the medicine bags would be perfect! Then the kids can use them in their imaginitive play while using the rest of the items. I know we will really not need another storage bag, but medicine bags would be fantastic

Thanks to everyone for helping this brain-interupted, pregnant woman to think!! GREAT ideas.

Wendy, I think medicine bags would be AWESOME!!!! My children love that type of thing for carrying small treasures in. That would get a lot of use around here.
Fringe and beads would be awesome!!
