Umm, since the rules are already broken, can't we let Lorena in? Mini gloks!! How cool!! . Seriously though, I can do a different shape or try a maraca (paper mache). Maybe with a chicken wire base it would be quite strong and stand up to children shaking them.

I would think that even if we have two maracas or rhythm sticks or something I it will be ok because don't most of us have more than one kid? Then there could be similar objects but not necessarily the same.

I'm fine with letting one more in.

i found a way to make them very easily out of 1/2" copper pipe. they will actually be in tune! when i say mini - i mean only cutting 3 pipes for each instead of the whole range...makes it lighter. kwim? not shrinking them. although - i could probably make them mini and then include the whole range. i'll have to finagle the math.

thanks for letting me in! i get to use a hacksaw for this swap!!!

That is cool!! I am partial the spike fiddle but won't be able to do it. All those are GREAT ideas. I also like the box drum. My oldest (Callum) got one for his 4th bday (I found it at a thrift store and loved it). He still has it but the littles keep breaking the mallets!!
I can't wait to get these instruments!!
