Rofl!! Kenna loves mermaids, so even though it is starting to be "off season" for an ocean theme, I would love to do it. I am starting to get things together for the kids for the holidays, so this woud be something perfect for McKenna!
I may make bendy mermaids. Not sure yet.
Can we have a mailing date for this one in mid-late October? That would be great since I have 6 other ones due by 10/1.

Me!
ETA: okay the phone rang but I didn't want to miss out. I love love love the ocean and since I am going to Maine next week this will be perfect timing for me to scavenge with a purpose.
I am super late in shipping my Fairy Tale swap out (didn't go out until today) But I promise I'll get this one out on time if I can join. My daughter is a waterbaby/pisces named Lorelei lol. I'm ADDICTED to mermaids for her.
Hastings -- everyone was late on the fairy tales swap. no worries!
Some ideas on things to make for this swap:
wool sea shells
clay sea shells
large clay coral or shell for a mermaid "throne"
ocean playmat
felted or sewn or clay island
palm trees for mermaids to lounge under when they are out of the water (Kenna's mermaids are always out of the water, lol! Thye have to talk with the fairies!)
underwater home -- like a fairy house, but maybe to look like coral, or a clam shell, or something, or just blue for the ocean
fish friends
sea horse - the size for a mermaid to ride on
Give me some ideas about what you'd like from Maine. I am from an island community and all (and I mean all) of my family are fishermen, clam diggers, dive for urchins or run a huge boat (think The Perfect Storm LOL).

I honestly wouldnt; even knwo where to begin....we have beaches around here, but there are never any shells or anythign.
so anythign you see on a beach or that makes you think of the water would be awesome. maybe some nice bigger shells or???
Depending on what I can guilt my cousins into (being the oldest has it's perks LOL) I can get some urchins, quahogs, clams and TONS of mussels. A few conches and some other oddities as well.
Totally off topic. I have never even seen the movie but read the book. The lady who is the skipper of one of the other botas used to work for a Aldie Leeman (of course you'd have to be from Harpswell to know this ). Anywho, those big boats are out for days at a time in the middle of the ocean. Quite dangerous. When my Grampa was in an accident a few years ago my Uncle was so far out in the Atlantic that the Coast Guard had to go get him. I love the ocean but am so freakin' scared of drowning!
