Tell me about needle felting...

I've always been interested in it but have never tried it. Can anyone tell me more about it? Like is it fun, time consuming, hard, easy, expensive, can a 6 year old do it, etc...? I would like to give it a try so I can make a few things for the boys for Xmas but I have very little to invest in it but am thinking it'd be cheaper than buying toys at a toystore, right? I'd also like some sort of hand work that DS could enjoy, but am unsure since it involves a needle type of tool. Any info appreciated!

i always 9 years for children to use and needle, without their parents at class, but I have seen many younger children use a needle ok
they are very sharp, many children are happy to just play with wool while you work

i think its pretty easy, i taught a workshop to about 20 women last weekend in one and half hours. its a skill that you can master fairly quicklyjust know that each item you make the next will be better

depends on where you buy your material as to cost it can be fairly cheaply done
