bendy-sized wand - question

I am making the White Witch for the Narnia swap and am not happy with the wand I made her. WW is a 4" bendy and the wand was a floss-covered wire with a bead on top. It looks nice, but when you try to actually put it in her little hole of a hand things go terribly awry, and the wand or the hand will suffer the consequences. I need a new plan, something that doesn't self-destruct upon actual use.

Suggestions for a wand for a 4" bendy? Should I ditch trying to make it so that she can actually stick it in her hand-hole (teehee)? I tried fimo once but it was too thin and it broke. I tried wire without floss wrapping around it and the ends snag the witch's hands, and/or aren't really kid-frienly (I wouldn't want my kid playing with it, anyway).

TIA! This witch needs a WAND!!!!!!!!!!

What about instead of wrapping with floss ...use seeds beads. A few mamas have made wands like that here..In fact..didn't Daisy do that for her wizard bendy for that swap..I have that swap put up..for later

Tamara,

I am doing wands for the Fairyland Tiny Things swap. I am planning on using toothpicks wrapped in fimo (the top of the want is going to be a gold/silver fimo star). Basically, I am going to make a very thin sheet of swirly fimo, and then roll up the toothpick in it, add the star, and bake.

Of course, I have never done this before, so it could be a total bust. Maybe use your wire and coat with fimo?

Let us know what happens, and post a pic of the WW, da**it!!

How about instead of trying to put it through the hole of the doll, just bend the hand around the wand so the hand grips it?

HOly hmm-hmmm! (why do I feel like being a potty mouth today?)
I'm so glad I posted! Y'all gave me some great ideas, THANK YOU! I'll be sure to post a picture when she's done. I tend to drag my feet on making bendies but now that I've actually *started* this one, I am quite enjoying making her

Gracias

We did go crystal hunting, and found some, but not enough nice ones for the swap <sigh>.....

Yes, this is how I did mine I used wire with seed beads and made the wand permanent. I used a large bead to top it off. It worked out well......at least, no one has complained yet!

What did you do for the end of the wire, Daisy? Did you cover it with a bead, use glue, something equally brilliant?

Thank you

On mine, I bent the wire around the bead (it coordinated w/the bead) and twisted the end back under. With most of the others, I glued the bead with the end of the wire being about halfway through the bead to keep from having it pop out the top.......

Clear as mud???
