Crafty swaps are driving me to organization!!

Ok, I am set up with fimo and paint in the kitchen

Yarn, needles, thread at the kitchen table.

I have one of those organizational carts with drawers at the ready in the family room with all my bendy supplies plus felt and some batting and roving.

Wherever I am, I can be working on a different swap!!!!

I have 4 working at the same time right now.

I know some you already do this but I have never multitasked like this before. It is kindof funny. I work a bit here and then do something else in the next room when I am there, then go upstairs and do some laundry.

Just had to share my recent organizational craze!!!

This does not include the 1 million UFO's in the my sewing room (on hold til further notice due to increase in craft interests)!!!

Care to share your crafty set-up?

That is the thing. I have TONS of space in the basement but I am not down there enough to justify setting up a space for that just yet. Maybe when the children are older and don't mind my spending so much time down there!! That's why I can get so much done in the other areas, cause I can do it while still being with them.

I'm lucky that I have a dedicated craft dungeon except that I can't take the kids down there to do anything. It's in the basement and the other half is full of junk and exercise equiptment. I have always had my own space but with kids now it isn't so functional. We are looking for houses in the next month and our ideal plan will be for me to have a hug space over a 2 car garage. I need a large sink and lots of room for my machines and supplies. We will see what the reality is considering we also want a dedicated homeschooling room.

I have a workshop in the cellar, dh made for me a few months ago and it's almost reorganized after the holiday mess, lol
but in my kitchen I have a 2' x 3' foot area in the corner next to our hutch and it's drawer units stacked on each other and I have some material/soap stuff in one unit and all crafty stuff in the other, but it's mostly set up for Maegan and Joey....pencils, stickers, glue, tape, etc...a drawer just for pencils, one for markers, one for crayons....(I used to have a homedaycare so I accumulated stuff and storage stuff, lol)

anyhoo
I bought myself a nice lined basket with leather handles to sit on the floor in the parlor.....this is where I plan on keeping my swaps in progress, so I can sew/felt while watching tv with dh late at night or while playing with Maeg during the day. I have totes bags in in dividing my swaps and supplies. I just did this yesterday and it works(except my clover making stuff is all over our large ottamon...I guess any flat surface I claim, lol)

I finished a portion of our basement a few years ago and it is my office. My computer, sewing mahcine/serger, all of my scrapbooking, stamping, paper arts, paints, etc. supplies are down there. But I never craft down there, with the exception that I needle felted that bunny the other night while sitting here in front of my computer for the craft along. I only sew down here.

I craft sitting on the couch when the kids are in bed, or at the kitchen table, or on a mat on the floor with the kids while they do crafts. I have a rubbermaid chest of drawers upstairs where I have all my needle felting supplies, and bendy making supplies, and clays.

i have a completely disorganized crafting room! well - it is actually half organized - but never enough to actually work in there. so i run in - grab what i need - bring into the kitchen - work alittle - then i have to haul it upstairs to keep it away from little hands!!!! it is annoying because i even have large work spaces in my room - but they are covered with junk!

these swaps are forcing me to continue organizing in that room and i have already made dh swear that he will take the kids for a couple of hours so that i can clear a usuable area in that room.

I forgotto add that I recently installed 2 shelves above my little shippng area in my office. The shelves are totally dedicated to the swaps, lol! They are where I keep all my finished swap items, and the swap items that are sent in to me for the swaps I am organizing.

You are totally trying to make me jealous!! I have only WM. The next closest (HL and Hancocks) are a 45 minute drive so I have to make a day-trip plan to go!! Not fun with all the little guys.

My Joanns and Michaels are in the same plaza. If dh gets home with the truck in time I'm going there tonight.

My crafting set up (or lack of) is pathetic. I've taken over the hallway linen closet for fabric and thread storage. My bed is up on risers to accomodate laundry baskets of crafty stuff. Boxes in my closet. And I have a big desk that really doesn't fit in my bedroom at all...holds my machines and a big pile of junk. I also have a bookcase in my room...3 shelves of crafty books with jars of buttons/wooden beads/etc in front of the books. And there are 2 doors at the bottom of the bookcase where I keep snaps, beads, sewing notions and crafty magazines.

BUT! My ultimate crafty room has been eeking its way up the priority list. It should be done by summer.

1/2 our basement will be my crafty room (and laundry behind closet doors...and a bathroom). The other half will be playroom/homeschool area.

My area will be big enough to accomodate ALL my crafty storage and workspace needs. And I'll need a table and chairs or sofa for when my friends come over.
