felt-n-show. New Peace Sign felted ball

I made 2 of these back when the Iraqi's had their election. I thought it was so moving to see such HOPE in their expressions after the election. Anyway, I made one to bait my children and get them to ask what it meant. The other is intended as a gift to a little one with a deployed daddy (or mama).

First the c-n-s, then a question, is it a tacky gift? I won't even begin to imagine the emotional roller coaster, you know? Ugh. I don't know.

It's a hand, making the peace sign, with purple ink on the index. It's hard to capture in a photo.

I don't think it's a tacky gift at all. I think it's really cool!

Katie,

How did you attach the design? Do you wet felt the egg/ball then attach the design or wet felt it all? I have a hard time getting the wool to stay put let alone a design. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. My children love the wool balls/eggs and mine just seem sooooooo boring.

Thanks,

So it's an ok gift? All right then, anyone know of an aw mama with a deployed dh?

Judi, I two-step felt them.

Felt up a base.
Wrap the base in your background roving color and needle felt your image to the base-colored roving. Then felt it up.
